Results
What we did to help Honor Health
A busy metropolitan emergency department (ED) serving approximately 55,000 annual visits faced significant challenges with patient flow and satisfaction. The ED's Left Without Being Seen (LWBS) rate stood at 8.1%, reflecting substantial inefficiencies and missed opportunities for care delivery. High LWBS rates negatively impacted patient outcomes, hospital revenue, and community trust. The emergency department implemented a series of targeted interventions including enhanced triage protocols, staffing adjustments during peak hours, operational efficiency improvements with a split-flow model, and technology integration for real-time patient tracking. The interventions led to a dramatic reduction in LWBS rates from 8.1% to an average of 2.3% over a 24-month period, resulting in significant financial improvements and enhanced patient care delivery.
